Poker Plea Ask for More Time

In Baton Rouge, Louisiana, one lawmaker has asked for more time for poker law to come into effect. Bars with poker tournaments are the target of the cops, and Damon Baldone wants them to slow down. In a measure filed by Baldone, a state representative, poker law could change to make the poker events legal, and he doesn't want the bars and poker players to suffer in the short interim time frame. House Concurrent Resolution 117 was filed by Baldone, D-Houma, and specifically asks local law enforcement to refrain from taking action to give the bill a chance to be addressed.

The world famous Golden Nugget casino has reopened its poker room. The Golden Nugget poker room was home for poker players from the early days. Poker tournaments and cash games were a regular event at the Golden Nugget for years before it was shut down by owner Bobby Baldwin. Now that the poker room has reopened there is a good likely hood that some major poker tours, such as the World Poker Tour, may start hosting their televised events therein, with amateur and professional poker players in attendance.

Florida Poker Without Racetracks

Greyhound racetracks have always been the way in for legalizing poker games in Florida, but a new law may make them irrelevant. In the past poker tournaments and cash games at these locations had to coincide with live dog races, but that may soon change. A new bill put before the Florida House would allow the racetracks to hold poker games without the races, something that will be good news for the establishments and poker players alike. Dog breeders are the major opposition to the measure, stating that such a change would put thousands of people out of work.
