In one of the latest WSOP final matches Phil Hellmuth did not get his long sought after 12th bracelet. When day 3 of the $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Championship the poker brat was poised to win. His march on his big day was halted by other poker pros hungry for the win, including John Juanda and Greg Raymer. Hellmuth went all the way to heads up with Juanda, but it wasn't to be. In the end John Juanda won his fifth WSOP bracelet and the $367,170 cash prize.

New Poker Room Owners Seek Trump Marina

Just after the announcement that Golden Nugget has relaunched their poker room comes the news that they will be buying another casino. The Trump Marina in Atlantic City will soon come under the ownership of the Golden Nugget. Officially it will be owned by Landry's Inc, which owns the Golden Nugget casino chain. The Golden Nugget was once famous for its Las Vegas poker room, which shut down during a slump some years ago but was recently reopened. The New Jersey Casino Control Commission gave Landry's the go ahead to buy the Trump Marina Hotel and Casino, for which they paid $38 million.

Final Table Set for EPT Grand Final

The last table for the PokerStars European Poker Tour Grand Final main event has been set. Eight poker pros will fight it out with €1.5 million on the line. The chip leader will be the one to beat among the remaining poker players, with nearly six million in chips giving him the edge. Ivan Freitez haisl from Venezuela. WPT Florida Down to Six

The first ever WPT Seminole event will come down to six players at the final table. The actual final table holds ten players, but once it is down to six it is called the TV table. The TV table will be the final players who will appear on the broadcast of the World Poker Tour show. This is the first TV table for the Florida WPT event. The final poker pros at this poker tournament are: Taylor Von Kriegenbergh, Justin Zaki, Abbey Daniels, Allen Bari, Tommy Vedes and Curt Kohlberg.

After the US attack on some online poker rooms, some poker pros have said they will shift their plans for playing online poker. One in particular, Daniel Negreanu, has said he will make adjustments but other than that it is business as usual for him. Negreaneu, now outgrown his poker nickname of “Kid Poker”, wrote on his blog that he will not play in some major online poker tournaments, so that adjust the way he trains for playing poker. Outside of that he says he isn't worried personally about the change in attitude of poker in the US.

UK Amateur Poker Championships

The poker pros were replaced with poker amateurs over the weekend at the Aspers Casino. Poker players came to play in the UK Amateur Poker Championships in Newcastle. There were over 150 players hunting their share of a £11,700 prize pool. This was the fifth season of the series, hosted by online poker room 888Poker, and the winner this time was Ben Young, who won £3625. The runner up was Craig Simpson for £2340. The rest of the top five were Robert Dunbar for £1521, Chris Peers for £1053 and Andres Sanchez for £760.

The next episode of High Stakes Poker will feature the poker pro known as The Magician. Antonio “ The Magician” Esfandiari will be one of six players to run the table in the next show. This will be the start of the second session of the season for most of the players, including Esfandiari. The latest Irish Open has begun in Dublin. The poker tournament is the second longest running poker event in the world. Poker players have converged on the Burlington Hotel, Dublin to play over Easter Weekend and beyond. The Irish Open 2011 draws both poker pros and casual players to compete in a variety of events, including the €3,200 + €300 main event that has a 20k chip stack. The prior year's event held only 10k chip stacks, which means players will have a chance to run deeper this year.
