The $2,500 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em Event at this year's WSOP has it's winner. Oleksii Kovalchuk picks up his first WSOP victory and a lot of cash. The first place prize for this poker game was $689,739. It was Event 26 in the 2011 World Series of Poker, and the second time a player from the Ukraine won a gold bracelet (the first was Eugene Katchalov). In addition to the player from the Ukraine the country win breakdown is United States 13, Great Britain 3, France 2, Canada 2, Israel 1, Russia 1, Honduras 1 and Indonesia 1.

The Chapel Hill House is to benefit from a poker run. The cabin was converted to provide a place for families to stay while dealing with cancer. It was supposed to be a retirement vacation home for Jason Joseph's father when he was diagnosed with cancer. He went through with obtaining the cabin but then donated it to become a charity retreat. A recent poker run had poker players from the area participate in the Ride for a Cure, the Friends of Chapel Hill House poker run.

One of the largest first place prizes of the season was won yesterday at the 2011 WSOP. The World Series of Poker Event 18 paid out $735,400 for first place. The winner was Foster Hays, who outlasted five tough players in the final day of play in the $1,500 no-limit hold’em event. Hays is an amateur poker player from Dallas, Texas where he works during the day as a medical researcher. A popular iPhone poker game has been launched in the Android Market. PlayPhone Inc announced the launch of their popular PlayPhone Poker Game for Android. The game has ranked in the top five of poker games in the App Store, giving poker players who use the iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad the ablity to play the game. Now those poker players who instead have an Android device can also play the online poker game. The PlayPhone Poker is a Texas Holdem app for mobile phones.

This Summer poker players will be able to enjoy playing their games in Marrakesh. The Marrakesh Deep Stack Open will be held in June. A Deepstack event means a poker game that has more than the normal amount of chips to start, which gives skilled players an advantage because it means they have more to work with. The poker event will take place between June 23 to June 26 and held at the Es Saadi Casino in Marrakesh. The €550 buy in will give players 50,000 starting chips, as much as five times that of similar poker events.

The leader after day three in the WPT Florida event is Taylor von Kriegenbergh. The World Poker Tour Seminole Hard Rock Showdown was whittled down from 145 poker players to 51. Krigenbergh worked up to over a million dollars in poker chips during the poker game. The next poker player leading in the poker tournament was Abbey Daniels, with nearly the same amount. The next player in line has less than half of the same amount, Justin Zaki. Mike Sexton, best known as an announcer in the World Poker Tour, is also still in the event.

The Boys and Girls Club of the Bighorns will soon benefit from a weekend poker tournament. The poker game will take place as the Sixth Annual Texas Hold 'em Tournament. The fundraiser will support the Boys and Girls Club of the Bighorns as poker players come to win prizes and raise money for charity. The game will collect money to fund both the charitable donation and the prize pool, with a split of 75% and 25%. There will be as much as $5,000 paid out to the top ten players.

In the wake of the shake ups in the poker world in the United States some poker tournaments are holding forth that they will be the next big poker brand. One such poker game is the Everest Poker Tournament, being held in Monte Carlo. The event has drawn poker players to the Salle des palmiers poker room of the Sporting de Monte-Carlo club. On Wednesday, April 27 the latest European Poket Tour event kicked off in San Remo. The EPT event, sponsored by online poker room Poker Stars, is being held for the fourth time on the Italian Riviera. Last year there were more then twelve hundre players with a prize pool of more than eight million dollars. Last year's champion was Poker Stars poker pro Liv Boeree, who took the top prize of $1,673,433. The event will run through two starting days and then wrap up with the final day on May 3rd.

Poker pro Annie Duke will join celebrities and other poker players in a charity poker tournament on Saturday, May 7th. The event will be dubbed “A Night of Poker” and will take place at Hustler Casino in Gardena, California. The No Limit Texas holdem poker tournament will raise money to benefit Life Rolls On Foundation, a charity that is dedicated to helping young people with spinal cord injury. Other poker players confirmed for the event are celebrities like Scott Caan, actor for Hawaii Five-O, and Juanna Krupa.
