Not much heat from the Hawks for Jeremy Lin and the New York Knicks. That’s likely to change Thursday night when the show travels to Miami for Lin versus LeBron and some real Heat. Lin had 17 points and nine assists, sitting out most of the fourth quarter in a rare easy game during his remarkable run, and the Knicks tuned up for their trip by beating Atlanta 99-82 on Wednesday.

Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau says star point guard Derrick Rose experienced no setbacks after returning from a back problem. He says Rose will play Wednesday against Milwaukee. Rose scored 23 points Monday in a win over Atlanta after missing the previous five games because of lower back pain. The Bulls did not practice on Tuesday.

Johnson, the Atlanta Hawks’ All-Star guard, was returning to Atlanta for an MRI on his ailing left knee Tuesday and will miss at least two games, another blow to a team already missing star center Al Horford. The Hawks said Johnson would not play in New York against the Knicks on Wednesday or the following night, when the team returns home to face Orlando.

Even shorthanded, the San Antonio Spurs keep finding ways to win. On Monday night, Richard Jefferson stepped up big. He hit a 3-pointer with 6.5 seconds left — only his second field goal all night — as the Spurs pulled out a 106-102 victory over the Utah Jazz. It was San Antonio’s 11th straight win — the longest streak in the NBA — and the seventh consecutive on this nine-game road trip.
