The Los Angeles Lakers are moving on — battered and bruised, but not beaten. Pau Gasol tipped in a missed jumper by Kobe Bryant with a half-second left and the defending champion Lakers survived a late comeback effort by Oklahoma City and eliminated the Thunder 95-94 in Game 6 of the first-round playoff series on Friday night.

Two spectators and a driver were taken to hospital with minor injuries after a car flipped into the crowd during a support race for the V8 Supercars Ipswich 300. Driver Kain Magro’s vehicle cartwheeled over a protective barrier at Queensland Raceway during the opening race of the Mini Challenge series Saturday.

Maybe these Mets are for real. Rod Barajas homered twice, Jonathon Niese pitched seven impressive innings and New York routed the Philadelphia Phillies 9-1 on Friday night for its eighth straight victory. David Wright and Jeff Francoeur also homered for the surprising Mets, riding their longest winning streak since a 10-game run in July 2008.

The Mariners have activated left-hander Cliff Lee from the 15-day disabled list to make his long-awaited Seattle debut against Texas. The Mariners’ corresponding move before Friday night’s game against the Rangers was optioning reliever Shawn Kelly to Triple-A Tacoma. Lee has been out since he strained his abdomen during a spring training game on March 15.

Gilbert Arenas has more gun problems. In March, the Washington Wizards guard got 30 days in a halfway house for bringing guns into the team’s locker room. Now a lawsuit claims he owes a Beverly Hills company more than $70,000 for storing guns he bought and never picked up. Tactical Operations sued Arenas last week in Los Angeles County Superior Court in Santa Monica.
