Cowboys rookie receiver Dez Bryant injured his right ankle near the end of practice Friday, a setback expected to force the first-round draft pick to miss some practice time. Coach Wade Phillips said the preliminary indication was a sprained ankle, but that further tests were planned. Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones said an MRI was planned and indicated that Bryant likely would miss time.

The deal was gaining momentum Friday and was likely to happen before Saturday’s trade deadline, a baseball executive familiar with the discussions said. The Arizona Diamondbacks traded away an All-Star pitcher for the second time in a week, sending right-hander Edwin Jackson to the Chicago White Sox on Friday for rookie Daniel Hudson and prospect David Holmberg. Early Friday morning, the cones were lined up 25 yards apart on the field for Albert Haynesworth’s conditioning test. My Dinah wore down Meese Rocks in the final strides to win the $70,000 Fleet Indian Stakes for fillies and mares bred in New York on Friday at Saratoga. Jose Espinoza rode the 5-year-old mare, trained by Kathleen Feron. My Dinah ran 7 fulongs in 1:22.96 to win by a head, her first victory of the year.
